Parents and Families are Organizing
Many families are rightfully concerned about the safety of their transgender and non-binary children, particularly those in elementary school. As an openly LGBTQIA+ candidate for school board director in 2023, I faced targeting from parent groups and individuals. Like many in the LGBTQIA+ community, I recognized the troubling trend of the 2024 presidential election as a candidate emerged who relied on anti-trans scare tactics to gain support and funding.
As a dedicated parent, I am actively taking steps to ensure my family’s safety through legal preparations. Families with transgender and non-binary children need to have access to vital information and resources to secure their legal documentation. Using my own experiences, I am committed to empowering families in Washington State by providing a peer-led, straightforward, and engaging presentation on navigating the legal system for updated documentation.
